Happy New Year!

Our offices will be closed on Thursday, December 31 and Friday, January 1 in observance of New Year’s Day. We will reopen on Monday, January 4 at 9am.

There’s no better place to be than in New York for New Years! If you are in town for the weekend, NYC has a plethora of events to ring in the New Year! Here are a few of our favorites:

New Year’s Eve in Times Square:
Jam-packed with tourists from everywhere, and an occasional New Yorker that must experience this at least once in their lifetime, this event is the crown jewel of New Years events!

For 105 years, Times Square has been the center of worldwide attention on New Year’s Eve, ever since the owners of One Times Square began in 1904 to conduct rooftop celebrations to greet the New Year. The first Ball Lowering celebration occurred in 1907, and this tradition is now a universal symbol of welcoming the New Year. More history.

Scheduled events start at 430pm, culminating with a spectacular fireworks display.

At 11:59, the Times Square 2010 Special Guest and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg push the Waterford crystal button that signals the descent of the New Year’s Eve Ball, and lead the final sixty-second countdown to the New Year at the Nivea Countdown Stage.

The lighted Ball descends 70 feet in sixty seconds. The Ball is a geodesic sphere, twelve feet in diameter, weighing 11,875 pounds. The Ball is covered with 2688 Waterford crystal triangles and lit by 32,256 Philips Luxeon Rebel LEDs. For specific details on the Ball, with videos and pictures, click here.

At the stroke of Midnight, the lights on the New Year’s Eve Ball are turned off as the numerals of the New Year “2010” burst to life shining high above Times Square.

The world-famous New Year’s Eve confetti is released from the rooftops of buildings throughout Times Square creating a celebratory blizzard of colorful confetti as revelers welcome the New Year accompanied by colorful pyrotechnic effects.

For a detailed schedule of event, and updates, please visit source Times Square Alliance.

New Years Eve Cruise:
New Year’s Eve on the Harbor! Start 2010 with a bang and a front row seat to the Fireworks on the New York Harbor! Spend your evening on our magnificent yacht enjoying an open bar, hors d’œuvres, dancing and a champagne toast at midnight!

Depart from NYC or Jersey. Limited Tickets $185 per person. Reserve online or call 877-523-9849.

Holiday Train Show:
All aboard for the Transit Museum’s 8th annual Holiday Train Show! A magical train layout takes you from Grand Central to the North Pole with stops at subway stations, bus stations, and Santa’s workshop! This year’s exhibit features Lionel’s brand new MTA Long Island Rail Road M7 Commuter Train Set commemorating the railroad’s 175th anniversary.

A seasonal tradition, the Train Show is a great way to start your tour of historic Grand Central Terminal. Don’t miss the laser light show in the Main Concourse, great shops and restaurants, and the Transit Museum booth at the Holiday Gift Fair in Vanderbilt Hall!

Admission is free and open through January 18, 2010 at Grand Central Terminal, 42nd St between Vanderbilt and Lex at the Shuttle Passage, next to the Station Master’s Office. Hours: Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday-Sunday-10 a.m. to 6 p.p. Closed major holidays and for special events. For information call 212-878-0106.

Tim Burton Exhibition at MOMA:
Taking inspiration from popular culture, Tim Burton has reinvented Hollywood genre filmmaking as an expression of personal vision, garnering for himself an international audience of fans and influencing a generation of young artists working in film, video, and graphics.

If you are a fan of Tim Burton, or any of his popular films, such as Vincent, Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, Beetlejuice, Batman, Edward Scissorhands, Batman Returns, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Ed Wood, Mars Attacks!, Sleepy Hollow, Big Fish, Corpse Bride, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Sweeney Todd – this is an exhibit that can’t be missed.

Gallery occupancy is limited. Timed tickets to enter Tim Burton are suggested on weekdays and required on all weekends and holidays (as well as Monday, December 28–Thursday, December 31, 2009, and Monday, January 4, 2010). Timed tickets guarantee entrance to the exhibition at the time designated on the ticket, and carry no extra charge. Through, April 26, 2010 at the Museum of Modern Art, 11 West 53rd Street, between Fifth and Sixth.

The Polar Express™ 4-D Experience at Madame Tussauds:
The Polar Express™ 4-D Experience is back at Madame Tussauds New York, just in time for the holidays! This unique cinematic experience will enable you to smell the aroma of hot chocolate, feel the icy chill of snow brushing past your face, hear the roar of the locomotive and feel as though you are a passenger aboard the magical Polar Express as you follow the story of a young boy who takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole on Christmas Eve! Office Closed for Christmas

Our offices will be closed Thursday, December 24 and Friday, December 25 in observance of the Christmas Holiday. We will reopen on Monday, December 28 at 9am.

Christmas in New York is truly magical! If you are in town for the weekend, NYC has a plethora of events to celebrate the Holiday weekend! Here are a few of our favorites:

Irving Berlin’s White Christmas The Musical:
Broadway, Broadway, Broadway – our favorite Boulevard in Manhattan. The light, the singing, the dancing – the Great White Way! It’s a must see for anyone visiting the city and what better show to see than the epically classical Irving Berlin’s White Christmas showing through January 3 at the Marquis Theater.

Buy tickets online or contact the box office Box at (212) 382-0100. The box office hours are Monday – Saturday from 10:00am – 8:30pm and Sunday from 12:00pm – 6:00pm. There is a note online that “Promotions/Discounts are available over the phone and through the Box Office only.”

It’s a Wonderful Life
Frank Capra’s paean to small-town values and the ordinary guy takes place one bleak-looking Christmas Eve, as James Stewart wishes he’d never been born. A classic story of redemption and second chances, It’s a Wonderful Life became not just a perennial holiday favorite, but one of the most beloved of all American movies.

Experience it theater style from December 18-22 at the IFC Center on Sixth Avenue at West Third Street. For an extra special treat, Donna Reed’s daughter Mary Owen will appear in person at Friday and Saturday’s 7:00pm shows and Sunday’s 3:55pm. Purchase tickets online.
